Color of the Year: Honeysuckle

Well Pantone announced their 2011 color of the year a few weeks ago. Its Pantone 18-2120....also known as...Honeysuckle!!

Its a shade of pink that has just enough brightness and just enough softness to it. The above color schemes shared by Erin Gate from Elements of Style, showcase the versatility of honeysuckle...and although she may have been alluding to interior design and style...I think that her combos also make excellent wedding color palletes. Here are a couple of combos that I chose to make simple inspiration boards out of. Cant find the exact shade for every detail in your wedding? Go ahead and mix it up with different and similar shades. Its a great way to add texture to your event =)

1. Felt flowers

I love all the new alternative Bouquet Ideas I have been seeing. The last post was on vintage brooch bouquets but here are some made out of felt flowers...they are so adorable. 2. Wicker

These photos were part of a collection of photos from a wedding in Costa Rica. The wicker adds great texture to the setting and the decor of the event. It totally pulls together the beachy-ness of the style but its so versatile that you can play with it to make it match other themes and styles.

4. Wooden Words

Not just any wooden words...these ones called "nuzzles". I love the style and typography as well as how the letters are split into pieces and they link together like a puzzle.

6. Caligraphy flags

I know, such a random and precise detail. but I seriously love these little suckers. They are so dainty and cute...adding a little playful-ness yet the calligraphy keeps it classy. Not to mention they make great markers or ways to label items as well as place holders. Instead of personalized napkins with your name and date, you can have straws such as these with flags, so they can go into every one's drink.

E-ring trend: Vintage... & Colored?

Arent these rings just gorgeous?! They have such style appeal to them and all very original! Now who wouldnt want to wear one of these beauties right?!

Now I'm not denying that we all love our sparkly white diamonds in our platinum's and white golds and all....but really, I have been seeing 1) a lot of vintage inspired rings... & 2) more and more colored e-rings!! Yes we all know the celebs have theirs like the famous J-Lo one but also gals like Carrie Underwood, Penelope Cruz and Carmen Electra are some of the celebs that have been sporting a colored rock on their finger....but I'm talking about a different look that I have been spotting all over the blog world, etsy, and many trendy engaged ladies. If you don't know, diamonds come in many many colors and I have to say, all those rustic colored ones...are just fantastic...they make for awesome jewelry pieces that are edgy, elegant, and original all at the same time. Other natural stones like some pictured above also come in a more natural state and exude these vibrant un-buffed colors...and when paired with these vintage inspired settings...well....its gorgeous!!

These pictured above are the work of Cathy Waterman....I caught a glimpse of her work on "What Junebug Loves" wedding blog....and it made me remember all the times I've noticed beautiful vintage and rustic rings in a lot of the photos Ive been seeing in the wedding blog world.

This can also be a way to add originality to your engagement and show some of your personality, and also possibly, save your man some $$. The ones pictured above are a bit pricey but they are great design inspirations and you can also go to etsy to find some very cute rustic diamond rings with lots of personality....check out this one etsy store Bloomstudios. Another idea, scour vintage jewelry shops, and have some one re-set or re-design a piece that you find and absolutely love!

Trend: Chalk it up

Chalkboards are making its break into the wedding scene, adding a touch of nostalgia in all the right places. They can match just about any theme. Above youcan see how they are being creatively used: from place cards, to table numbers, to favors, to photbooth signs. They are everywhere. You can also make a lot of diy projects incorporating chalkboards. You can buy chalkboard paint at your local hardware store and used it to make a chalkboard surface out of just about anything.

We are using a vintage framed chalkboard for our wedding as photobooth signage for people to hold up. Are you incorporating chalkboards into your wedding? if so how?
